Mike’s racing record S

Competition is intense in the world of MG racing and this Dronfield

competitor is looking to make his mark on the sport in 2012

TUDIO owner and amateur racing driver Mike Rouse, from Dronfield, is hoping for more trophies to display in his cabinet this year when he competes in the MG

Car Club’s Cockshoot Cup Championship. The Championship dates back to the 1930s and has one of the oldest trophies in motorsport. Mike said “The championship caters for a variety of MG cars from the 1940s right up to the modern day and it’s great fun pitting my MGF/TF against other MGs from different eras. “To keep the cost down, the rules only allow minimum changes to the cars, so we don’t need a Formula 1 budget! The MG marque is alive and well and the competition is intense.”

The first race takes place at Donnington Park on Easter Monday, with further rounds including Oulton Park, Croft and the Grand Prix Circuit at Silverstone.

A Evening of poetry

POETRY evening hosted by arts@S18 in Dronfield Library was a great success, with three local poets showcasing their work.

Former Derbyshire Poet Laureates Ann Atkinson and River

Wolton, along with Sally Goldsmith, read their work to the audience. Each poet spoke about what influenced particular poems and offered some of their publications for sale.

At the end of the evening there was strong support for a creative writing group to be formed, with all three poets offering their support. Members of arts@S18 are now hoping to put together a programme of reading and creative writing workshops for the autumn.
