Have you got your tickets yet for the big 2012 Party in the Park music event? A quarter of them have already been sold

600 Party tickets sold T

ICKETS are selling fast for this summer’s Party in the Park event right here in Dronfield.

With three months to go until the big

night on Saturday, July 14th, more than a quarter of the 2,000 available tickets have already been snapped up... and organisers are confident the charity show will prove to be a sell-out. Chart acts from the 50s, 60s and 70s feature on this year’s bill and folk attending are again invited to take along their own tables, chairs and picnics. On the big Cliffe Park stage this summer will be Marty Wilde & The Wildcats, local hero Dave Berry with his backing band The Cruisers, plus the cap-wearing Rubettes.

In addition to providing a great night out, the event also promises to boost the coffers of local good causes. The chief beneficiary this time around is to be Ashgate Hospice, with donations also going to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, plus the Mayor of Dronfield’s Charity Appeal.

Glam-rockers The Rubettes had a number of big hits in the 1970s including Sugar Baby Love,Tonight, Juke Box Jive and I Can Do It

Organising the Party in the Park are members of Dronfield Town Council, with the help of Derri Jones and Barry Northall who staged the first such event in the summer of 2011, plus staff and volunteers from Ashgate Hospice. The main sponsor is again Dronfield Eye magazine. Tickets cost £20 and can be bought via the website ashgatehospicevents.co.uk, by telephone (Mon- Fri) on 01246 567250, from Ashgate By Design @ The Forge and also the Town Council office in the Civic Hall building.

Legendary rocker Marty Wilde had his first hits in the 1950s and Sheffield’s Dave Berry joined him in the charts in the 1960s.The pair are shown here in an image from Dave’s autobiography
