LOCAL BATHROOM BUSINESS GOESGREEN

LOCAL BATHROOM and shower business Harlequin Bathrooms, Salisbury’s oldest established bathroom-only specialist, has commissioned Spear Electrical of Andover to install a photovoltaic (PV) system capable of producing 10Kw of electricity per hour. The company will install more than 40 solar panels on its south-facing roof. The high cost of electricity to light the company’s showroom (in both financial and environmental terms) means that Harlequin have been experimenting with different types of lighting, but found most energy efficient lights just weren’t good enough.

2 1 The Salisbury-born managing

director of this family business, Terry West, recently had a similar PV system fitted to his home and is already seen the benefits in lower electricity bills and tax-free payments from the feed-in tariff scheme. He sees this new move for Harlequin as a good business investment and believes that all companies should be encouraged to introduce similar schemes to help Britain meet its green targets. Harlequin Bathrooms has a

firm commitment to green issues and tries to source their products from similarly minded companies. This new move to solar powered
