Husband and wife Gareth and Jean Adamson created the lovable twins in 1959


They didn’t want a boy characte r who “had all the fun” and a “wimpy girl”, so they created twins who would experience everything equally!


The Topsy and Tim stories were influenced by the Adamsons’ own children and world changes and events – like families going abroad on holiday and starting to recycle


Jean and Gareth have created more than 130 Topsy and Tim stories and over 25 million copies of their books have been sold worldwide
