Ladies team finishes second in elite division With only a few minutes until half time Gates-
atford FC‘s Female Academy team headed north last month to play Gateshead Acade-
my FC in the quarter finals of the British Colleg- es Sport, National Cup Football League Play Offs. Watford made an excellent start to the game
controlling the centre of midfield, pressing high and closing down the opposition well. Manager John Salomon was confident in say-
ing ―defensively, this was the best start to the game the team had made all season‖. Unfortunately, against the run of play, the
girls found themselves 2-0 down with only 24 minutes played. A great through ball from the centre of midfield saw Watford‘s forward Jo Wil- son through on goal only to see her effort tipped narrowly wide by Gateshead‘s goalkeeper.

played, with Watford losing 3-2. Overall an out- standing team performance by Watford, in what is their first season in the BCS NCFL Elite divi- sion, finishing second and reaching the Quarter- finals of the NCFL League Play Offs.
