Get ready for arts festival

W

ith summer just a few months away, organisers of Watford Live Festival are

gearing up to celebrate the best in the local art scene. Watford Live is a small but growing

community based arts festival. Running throughout June, the festival will

include a number of different events taking place in Charter Place at the weekends, and at locations around the town during the month. On the first Saturday of June, there will be a

community fair taking place. A number of local arts groups, dance schools and charities will be hosting stalls and so far more than 21 groups have asked to join in. On the Sunday there will be a celebration, Diamond Jubilee style. The second weekend will focus on live music

with local bands playing their hearts. The third weekend in June everyone will be

wanting to slip on their dancing shoes as local dance schools show off their fancy footwork. And on the last weekend Charter Place will

become an open-air theatre. Around the town, there will be an afternoon of

film from local film-makers and folk dance and belly dance taster sessions. Meanwhile, Watford Philharmonic will be

playing at the Colosseum. U3A will celebrate 10 years of activity at St Michael‘s School in Garston, and the Fire Museum has its annual open day. For those enjoying visual arts, then Watford

Area Arts Forum are running their annual art competition. More organisations and individuals are joining

all the time, so if you are involved with any arts groups locally and would like to take part please get in touch at info@watfordlive.org
