Top artists to showcase their work Watford artist will join forces with two other

local artists for an exhibition in the

Harlequin Centre later this month. Denise Butler, 48, from Leavesden, will exhibit

her works at the Harlequin Gallery from Saturday, April 28, until Monday, May 7, alongside David Latham, of Oxhey Hall, and, Toulla Hadjigeorgiou of Bushey. All three are members of Watford Area Arts Forum (WAAF) which is where they met. They have exhibited with the group in the past but decided to go solo. This is their first as a trio. The mother- of-two who uses pen and ink to create her realist art told My Watford News: ―We all get on really well and are all self-taught. Although our styles are very different

we all share a passion for landscapes, which is the reason we decided to host the exhibition. ―I have always preferred to create detailed

pieces using only pen and ink. I rarely use colour as I think the minimalistic colour creates more of an emphasis. My main inspiration is beautiful architecture and I usually draw from a photo. Depending on the size of my pieces, an A4 piece can take up to 30 hours.‖

Denise gave up work to concentrate on her art

full time a year ago. It wasn‘t until she was working on a drawing of Croatia for a friend who was unwell that she finally made the move. She added: ―I very excited about the event, but

at the same time quite nervous as I have only ever exhibited three of my pieces at one time. This will also be the first time that I will be working as well as exhibiting, but fortunately I have the support of the other two.‖ For more details visit denisebutlerart.co.uk. by Tori Giglio
