I’D LIKE TO CLAIM THE SHU MAI AS MY NEW BEST FRIEND BECAUSE THIS WAS WITHOUT DOUBT THE BEST I’VE TASTED OUTSIDE OF HONG KONG


For mains we took a mini detour to Thailand, with boyfriend choosing the Thai chilli beef, £14.65, and the Thai green curry, £13.85 for me. Both main dishes were top notch with the green curry a perfect blend of fire and fragrance and the hot chilli beef offering the right amount of heat to keep the taste buds buzzing. Totally stuffed we decided against dessert and sipped on some Jasmine tea over a chat with Opium director Trevor Lee. We discovered the secret of those dim sums: the chef was trained by the dim sum masters in Hong Kong and his near 40 years cooking experience was obvious in every bite. Winner of this year’s Best Oriental Restaurant at the Scottish Restaurant Awards, Opium is a must visit.
