The diverse calendar of events over the last few years has seen the number of visitors to my restaurants increase - all raving about how good our county is. Obviously the food and drink festivals are my favourite, but there is truly something for everyone!

Standing majestically on a sheer rocky crag, Beeston offers perhaps the most stunning views of any castle in England. Discover 4,000 years of history, and explore over 40 acres of woodland walks. Perfect for a family day out or to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.


Open: 1st Apr – 30th Sept, 10am-6pm, daily; 1st Oct – 4th Nov, 10am – 4pm, Thu – Mon; 5th Nov – 17th Feb, 10am – 4pm, Sat – Sun; 18th – 22nd Feb, 10am – 4pm, daily; 23rd Feb – 28th Mar, 10am – 4pm, Sat – Sun; 24th – 26th Dec & 1st Jan closed.


Location: Located 11 miles SE of Chester, on minor road off A49.


Accessibility: Steep climb (no disabled access to the top of the hill).


Prices: Adults £5.70, Concession £5.10, Child £3.40. Free to English Heritage Members & children under 5 are free.

Anderton Boat Lift


Anderton Boat Lift is a fully restored and working Victorian monument nestling in the rural heart of Cheshire. It was constructed in 1875 to transport working craft between the Weaver Navigation and the Trent and Mersey Canal 50 feet above. The Edwin Clark trip boat offers river cruises and journeys through the lift whilst the operations centre is home to the newly refurbished Coffee Shop. Celebrating its 10th anniversary Exhibition entry for 2012 is free.


Open: 29th March – 28th October, Mon – Fri (excl. Bank Holidays & August) 10am – 4pm, Sat & Sun (inc Bank Holiday & August) 10am – 5.30pm. 1st – 24th December, Sat & Sun, 11am – 4pm (operating Santa Cruises). Please visit website for Feb, March & Nov times.

Blakemere is a fun filled attraction for all the family to enjoy! We really have something for everyone including Bird of Prey flying displays (Easter to September) and aviaries, an indoor children’s play barn and adventure play park, a 9 hole family Pitch & Put course as well as 25 unique craft shops, garden centre, candle dipping, pottery painting, craft activities and a huge antique emporium and centre.


Plus a coffee shop offering great homemade food and a new fully licensed Café Bar offering fresh local produce.


Open: Daily 10am – 5pm including Bank Holidays. Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day & New Years Day. Check Jan opening times before visiting.


Location: 25 minutes from Manchester Airport, Liverpool Airport and Chester City Centre. On the junction of the A556 and the A49.

One of my favourite ways to spend my free time is shopping! From the designer stores in historic Chester to idyllic market towns and beautiful boutiques in Cheshire, I’m always really spoilt for choice!
