The Lady Bruins (1-9) managed to scratch out a run in the fourth on Khloe Carrizoza’s leadoff triple into the right- field corner and an Arely Mendoza single up the middle.


Millennium made it 14-1 in its turn at-bat as Frausto doubled with one out. She moved to third on a fielder’s choice and scored on an error. Trevor Browne scored a meaningless run in the fifth, aided by Millennium’s lone error on what would have been the game’s final out. “Overall, we did a good job fielding,” Johns said. “We have been playing pretty solid defense for the most part.” Loncar led Millennium at the plate with three hits and she drove in two runs.


Eleman had two hits and four RBI.


Season winding down The victory elevated Millennium’s


overall record to 14-10. The Lady Tigers are 7-6 in power-points games and are ranked 19th. The top 24 teams qualify for the Division I state tournament. The Lady Tigers have games remaining


against Surprise Valley Vista, Surprise Willow Canyon, Westview and Glendale Independence. “We really need them all,” Johns said.


“We need to win out to improve our playoff seeding.” They hold wins over all of those teams with the exception of Willow Canyon, which defeated Millennium (6-4) on March 23. The Lady Wildcats rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth to win that game. “We should have won that game,” Johns said. “We made too many errors (three).” Millennium begins the stretch run with a contest today at Valley Vista.
