THE MALDRON HOTEL Cardiff (pictured left) has joined Best Western, the world’s largest group of independently owned hotels, in a bid to strengthen its market position in the UK. The newly-built 216-bedroom hotel, which houses the elegant Stir bar and a state of the art business centre, will be known as the Best Western Plus Maldron Hotel Cardiff, but will remain independently owned by

ST DAVID’S SHOPPING centre recently announced that it will
be supporting Cancer Research Wales as its new charity of the year. Fundraising activities will take place throughout the year at the centre to raise money for vital research into new cancer treatments in Wales. “We are extremely grateful for St David’s support,” said Liz Andrews, charity director of Cancer Research Wales. “It’s thanks to our individual and corporate supporters that we are able to fund the highest calibre of research which has the potential to benefit millions of lives.” For more

MORE BUSINESSES DOING their bit for charity – Hilton Cardiff has donated thousands of pounds raised at its recent Las Vegas- themed Foundation Ball to local charities. All the money raised has been shared between The Noah’s Ark Appeal, which fundraises for the Children’s Hospital for Wales, and the Hilton in the Community Foundation, which supports local children’s charities in the region. Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler and Paralympian David Roberts were among the star guests, with radio DJs Jagger and Woody conducting the charity auction. “We cannot thank everyone enough for their support and generosity in raising so much money for charity,” said Marie Fagan, Hilton Cardiff’s general manager.
