Industrial Scientific Promotes Kevin L. Miller to Chief Operating Officer and Vice President

Miller joined Industrial Scientific in 2007 as the director of sales, Americas, and since then has served as the vice president and general manager of Americas sales & services, and most recently as vice president of global sales, services & marketing. In his new role, Miller will be responsible for sales, ser-


vices, marketing, product development, and manufac- turing for Industrial Scientific’s portable gas detection business. “These core functions will be further strengthened by consolidating them under one leader,” says Justin McEl- hattan, president and CEO of Industrial Scientific. “We are extremely confident in Kevin’s abilities as he has a proven track record of success here at Industrial Scientific.” Prior to joining the company, Miller was vice president

He also held posi- tions at FreeMarkets, Inc., now Ariba, Inc., including di- rector of supplier solutions and global commercial oper- ations, and director of North American sales operations. Miller earned a JD from the University of Cincinnati Col- lege of Law, an MBA from the Mason School of Business at The College of William & Mary and a bachelor of arts from Davidson College. ChemImage Selected for Small Business Innovation Research Award


ChemImage Corporation will receive support through a U.S.


Army Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II award to continue research and development of NightGuard, a standoff hyperspectral imaging sensor. Managed by the Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Direc-


torate (NVESD), the 18-month contract will enable the compa- ny to build on the successes achieved in Phase I, while plotting a course for commercialization. When development is complete, NightGuard will provide soldiers with the ability to detect po- tential threat areas in day and nighttime situations at standoff distances.

Concurrent Technologies Corporation and Renewable Manufacturing Gateway Partner to Bring Alternative Energy and Clean-Tech Manufacturing Operations to Western Pennsylvania


Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) and Renewable Manufacturing Gateway (RMG) have formed a strategic alliance focusing on recruiting new companies to locate manufacturing op- erations in western Pennsylvania. The combined strengths of the two not-for-profit organizations offer a unique blend of business and technical capabilities that can mold new businesses into man- ufacturing centers of excellence within the western Pennsylvania region and contribute to the success of new businesses. CTC’s engineers, scientists, and subject matter experts will


provide research, development, demonstration and prototyping capabilities, as well as facilities and equipment that are needed to guarantee cost-effective manufacturing, enabling the new businesses to achieve success.
