Thanks to the staff at Waitrose who hosted a new advice surgery for me at the store in Morningside last month. Having been MP

for nearly two years now, several constituents have said to me that they are unable to attend my regular surgeries on a Monday and Friday due to work, taking children to school etc. That is why I hope

that drop-in sessions at supermarkets will be beneficial for those with busy schedules but have an issue they would like to raise with me. Additionally, I am

happy to make home visits if required.

The Big Lottery Fund have just launched their project, which aims to unlock the potential of

thousands of children and young people helping them to be more confident, healthy and connected with older people in their community. Local charities across Scotland will be provided with

grants of between £10,000 and £50,000 for up to two years. For example, the funds can be used for work experience tasters with local employers, creative arts projects, inter-generational technology classes on social networking and gaming as well as getting young people involved in local sports facilities. You can download an application form at:

www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/youngstartfund or keep up-to- date via their facebook page or twitter @youngstart fund
