Ruck and Roll Our men’s and women’s teams in Amsterdam
At Wooden Spoon HQ there is a trophy cabinet that is fit to burst at the seams as 2011 became Spoon Rugby’s most successful season ever. Our teams ran up a tally of no less than seven tournament wins and a runners up place across three different countries across Europe. However, Spoon is proud to announce that while we may have hung up our boots for a few months work has still been going on behind the scenes to ensure that Spoon Rugby matches 2011’s achievements both on and off the field this year. The creation of Wooden Spoon RFC, a new kit deal and partnerships with several of the biggest 7s festivals across Europe as well as a series of beneficiary events will ensure that Spoon hits the ground running this season.
KICKING OFF IN KINSALE In May Wooden Spoon RFC will once more be looking to conquer the Emerald Isle with the womens team returning to Kinsale as defending Champions and the mens team eager to exorcise the demons of their agonising quarter-final defeat. Kinsale is seen by many as one of the fastest growing tournaments in Europe with well over 3,000 spectators attending last year, and it is because of this vast support that Wooden Spoon is proud to announce our partnership with the
Kinsale 7s. The relationship is guaranteed to not only reduce the costs involved with playing in the tournament but also increase our fundraising potential while there.
DOUBLE DUTCH
There will be no rest for the wicked in May as Wooden Spoon RFC’s continental tour moves swiftly from Kinsale to Amsterdam. In 2011 Spoon Rugby’s visit to the Netherlands resulted in the only tournament where Spoon didn’t come away with a winner’s trophy and this year we’re
eager to set the record straight. Once again we’re incredibly fortunate to be able to announce a partnership between Wooden Spoon RFC and the Amsterdam 7s in a move that is likely to mean our charitable message will be pushed out to a party of nearly 7,000 people!
ROCKING RUGBY ROCKS Wooden Spoon RFC will be returning home at the end of May to take on Britain’s finest 7s sides at Rugby Rocks. The tournament prides itself on being a spectacular sporting festival with live
