Get RAD, ’50s style, at CCC Deadline nears for superhero race A live DJ spinning tunes, root beer floats


and a “surprise guest” are featured at the 7th annual 1950s-style Sock Hop dance given by Recreation and Athletics for the Disabled (RAD) and the City of Chandler from 6:30 to 9 p.m., Fri., April 20 at the Chandler Community Center. Disabled individuals ages 16 and older


from the SanTan Sun area are invited to attend the free event, which offers memento photos to all participants. Guests are encouraged to wear ‘50s-style attire. The CCC is at 125 E. Commonwealth Ave. in

Registration for KA-POW! Superhero Adventure Run, a family-friendly costumed run


sponsored by Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, ends April 19. The event offers fun and challenging obstacles at 8:15 a.m. Sat., April 28 at Freestone Park, 1045 E. Juniper Road, Gilbert. Runners are encouraged to wear their favorite superhero’s costumes as they participate in either the 1-mile “Wolverine” Adventure Run or the 2.4-mile “Superman” Adventure Run. After finishing the course, participants can visit “Gotham City” through noon, which offers participant awards, superhero costume awards, live DJ music, refreshments, inflatable activities and the Flash Dash Run. Race fees are $15 for all ages for both the 1-mile “Wolverine” Adventure Run and the 2.4-mile
