CTA-Independence Hawks Save the date – Join CTA for its Spring Fling from 5 to 9 p.m. Fri., April 13. PTO has organized an event that will include games, food, bounce house, silent auction and teacher raffle. If interested in volunteering at the event, contact a classroom mom. Test time – The Stanford 10 testing dates for second
grade are April 18 and 19; AIMS testing dates for third- to sixth-graders are April 17 through 20. During the testing period, make sure students get plenty of rest, eat a nutritious breakfast and arrive at school on time each day. Coins count – The Student Council Coins for Kids drive
raised nearly $2,800. The donation went to HopeKids, an organization providing a powerful, unique support community for families who have a child with cancer or other life-threatening medical condition. CTA is grateful for every donation. Survey says – The parent survey is now online at

Hancock Heat Heart smart – Hancock students participated in Jump
Rope for Heart recently, raising $4,883.08 for the American Heart Association. First-grader Peter Chimbos was the school’s top fundraiser, raising $2,225 all by himself and receiving a medal for his efforts. Art smart – The month-long Artist in Residence program
hosts artist Eileen Morgan this year. Mrs. Morgan will present an opening performance assembly in conjunction with Fushicho Diako, a professional Japanese Taiko performing group, and will then lead sessions in the art of Taiko drumming with every student at Hancock. As the focus grade, third-graders will present a final culminating performance Thu., May 17. Watch for more information about this project, made possible through a matching grant
Youth
by the Arizona Commission on the Arts and tax credit donations. Kudos – Hancock earned the participation award at
the recent Hershey Track Meet for having the biggest participation of students. —Suzanne Incorvaia
Hull Heroes Book Fair – The week of April 9 is Book Fair week at Hull.
Stop by the library between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to purchase summer reading. A Vendor Fair will join the Book Fair from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening. Story time – The kindergarten classes will entertain
audiences with fairy tales at 7 p.m. April 19 in the Multipurpose Room. Y-Tie buy – Y-Tie shoelaces are available for purchase
through the end of April. Things to do – Hull families are asked to consider
donating gently used board games, puzzles and G-rated movies to Hull so that students can use them during hot weather and rainy day recess. Thanks due – Thanks to all the parent, junior high and

Tarwater Toros Meet and greet –
Parents of students entering kindergarten
this fall are invited to an overview of Tarwater’s kindergarten program at 6:30 p.m. Tue., April 17, where they can meet kindergarten teachers, special area teachers, PTO members and the principal. Those parents are also invited to a special story read by the principal and a tour of the campus at 9 or 10 a.m. Fri., April 20. Fitness fun – Third grade began the fourth quarter with
exercise. Ms. Dingman’s and Mrs. Meyer’s classes started off right with a brisk walk to get everyone ready to learn. Submitted photo Class notes – Thanks to tax credit donations,
