Family Easter Celebration is Saturday!


The Family Easter Celebration is Saturday, April 7 from 9 a.m.-noon at the Snedigar Sportsplex located at 4500 S. Basha road. This is a free event for all ages that will feature an Easter egg scramble starting at 10:30 a.m. for children up to nine years old. There will be a variety of information booths and other activities for parents and children to enjoy. Sonoran Sunset Series Music is Thursday, April 12


The Environmental Education Center presents the Sonoran Sunset Series with a free lakeside performance by local musician John Vold that will be suitable for all ages on Thursday, April 12 at 6 p.m. (www.chandler az.gov/veterans-oasis; 782-2890).


Earth Day Event is Friday, April 20


The Environmental Education Center will celebrate its fourth anniversary with an Earth Day expo on Friday, April 20 from 4-7 p.m. at 4050 E. Chandler Heights road. Admission is free for all ages and there will be many activities and information booths to learn more about sustain- ability and nature (www.chandler az.gov/veterans-oasis; 782-2890).


The summer Break Time magazine outlining many all-ages recreation classes and special events for June, July and August will be available online and at City facilities, libraries and recreation centers starting Friday, April 20. Registration will start Saturday, May 5 at 10 a.m. for residents (Friday, May 11 at 10 a.m. for non-residents). April Parent & Toddler Activities


Tumbleweed Recreation Center offers preschool activities in a safe play area for children five years old and younger to play under parental or guardian supervision with "Bubble Blast" on Wednesday April 11 from 9-11 a.m. There is also a new activity called "Tunnels, Tikes and Tunes" on Wednesday, April, 25 from 9-11 a.m. There is a $2 fee per child ($3 for non-residents). The TRC is located at 745 E. Germann road (www.chandleraz.gov/tumbleweed ; 782-2900).


Chandler’s Centennial Celebration Weekend is May 17-19!


There are three big special events to celebrate Chandler’s 100th birthday during the weekend of May 17-19! For more information, visit www.chandleraz.gov/100.


1) Check out the new 50-year time Capsule and plaque dedication; local entertain- ment and special speakers; see our community Birthday Cards and try a piece of the winning Centennial Birthday Cakes. There will be history and art exhibits while Mayor Jay Tibshraeny recognizes centenarians and the birthday cake design contest winners. Happy 100th Birthday Chandler! 2) Enjoy a relaxed evening in downtown Chandler, where our city’s history began, with artists, music, food, history and more. Centennial sponsors and dignitaries will mingle at an elegant reception, where Centennial Scholarship winners will be awarded. 3) It’s the biggest backyard birthday bash you will attend this year! Bring the family to Tumbleweed Park for classic games with prizes, such as races, pie eating contests and to celebrate our farming heritage, agricultural themed games such as cow pie toss and cotton bale rolling. Enjoy entertainment from local talent, history exhibits, special speakers, flyovers, and a fireworks display. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
