2012 Arbors at Chicopee camp opens in June
CHICOPEE – Arbors at Chicopee Summer Camp will offer a variety of programs from June to August. The organization’s traditional summer camp offers fun activities and events designed to keep campers engaged in a variety of adventures and activities including: swimming, arts and crafts, board games, Frisbee, camp songs, capture the flag, nature walks, scheduled entertainment and field trips.
Campers will also have the
ability to participate in competitive and non-competitive sports like three-legged races, kick ball, dodge ball, soccer, basketball, baseball, Nerf football and archery. Each camper will receive an
Arbors Camp T-shirt and water bottle.
The camp’s theme this summer is the Olympics. Every camp week will have a special theme of activities and events. Campers will be busy with fun and exciting activities like cooking, arts and crafts and sports. Every Friday, campers will be involved in an All Camp Competition. Working together as a team is important to those at the Arbors Camp.

trip experiences that are planned for this summer. Field trips are designed to provide campers with a hands on experience that is both fun and educational. This year’s trips include Lupa Zoo, Chicopee State Park, and the Springfield Science Museum.
Plans are also in the works for
two movie nights. Families are welcome to come and watch a movie under the stars. The Arbors Camp is adjacent
to The Arbors Kids on Memorial Drive. These camp facilities include well-maintained playing fields and a swimming pool with enclosed cabana. The large picnic pavilion provides a shady place for non-sport activities as well as a cool area for snacks and lunch. The pavilion’s open sides can be closed during inclement weather. The Pavilion out in the field is open and for the oldest kids at camp for shade, lunch time, and Journal Writing.
Camp hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and provides a full eight-hour session.
Pre Camp runs from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Pre Camp is available every day. Children who attend this morning program will be able to play board games, make arts and

performance of “Willy Wonka” (a.k.a. “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”) will be staged on July 12 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets will be available beginning June 25 at the JCC.
Family Night On July 19, all JCC Camp
families are invited to Family Night at 6 p.m. Parents are welcome to experience an evening at camp with their children through sports, music, crafts and an outstanding variety show with presentations from Superstars, and a “Zimriah” music festival.

All campers can bring their
own lunch and snack to camp each day. For safety reasons, camp organizers request that campers do not send peanut butter, due to potential allergies, or glass bottles. Lunch is also offered at $4 per day. The Arbors Camp will provide
an experienced staff of directors, coaches and counselors. All camp staff are certified and have undergone criminal background checks. The camper-to-staff ratio will ensure a fun and safe camp experience for each child.
All campers are required to check-in and check-out with staff every day. No child will be allowed to leave without an adult from the child's pick up list with picture ID. Please advise staff if your child will be picked up by someone other than the parent. For more information, visit
