Bolton’s finest Burlesque Dancers invited me to perform at one of her nights in February 2011, I was over the moon. I invited all of my friends from Northampton and they did not disappoint, they were dressed to the nines and looked stunning! Waiting backstage my stomach was in knots, it had been so long since I performed. My name was called, the curtains pulled back, I walked out and every- one cheered, I was so overwhelmed by their reaction. I held on tightly to the microphone stand as if I was hanging 1,000ſt in the air. As the set went on I managed to take a step away from the microphone stand and eventually strutted through the crowd, the time just flew by and then it was time for the final song, I made my way back to the stage and Miss Vivacious Grace paraded her stuff to ‘I’m Feeling Good’, try- ing her hardest to put me off my words, it was fabulous evening”.
THE BEGINING OF A SONGWRITER “In April 2011 someone really close to me passed away unexpectedly, he loved music and dancing, even at the age of 70 something he’d still go clubbing, the guy was a legend! His passing really pushed me to get back into music and in respect of him I started singing again. I at- tended open mic’s and felt so out of place as I didn’t know anyone, but the more places I performed at the more people I met and in August 2010 I met Kev Minney, he helped me record ‘Must Be Dreaming’, I uploaded it to BBC Introducing and 3 days later I received an email from BBC Radio Northampton confirming they were going to play my track as record of the week. I contacted all my friends and fam- ily asking them to listen in; I ran up to my bedroom, turned on my radio and waited patiently for them to play it, my family listened as they waited outside my bedroom door, the song played and I think my parents were more shocked than I was, it was definitely weird listen- ing to my voice on the radio. Since appearing on BBC Northampton I’ve featured on Corby Radio and Inspiration Radio. In July 2011 I appeared on Market Harborough Radio and Milton Keynes Radio, and even returned to my old school Northampton School for Girls to sing live on their Radio station. I was the first ever singer/songwriter to broadcast my original material on Nene Valley Radio at Northampton General Hospital which was an honour. I’ve also appeared on BBC Cambridge Radio and Amber Sound FM Derbyshire, Spitfire Radio Birmingham and In2beats Bedford Radio. The most exciting moment ever was when my songs were broadcasted across the pond on Berklee radio, Boston Massachusetts, AMERICA; this was definitely a moment I will never forget”.
