HEALTH SKIN TRADE

Looking for affordable, professional skin treatments? Look no further than Marylebone’s Skin Health Spa…

Are you thinking it’s about time to treat your face to something a little more extensive than a simple scrub at home? For anyone who has yet to have dipped their toes (or, indeed, nose) into the world of non-invasive beauty therapies, it can be hard knowing exactly where to begin. There are a bewildering array of treatments on the market, and a vast range of salons and clinics in the capital. The good news is that because of the economic downturn, many are offering treatments at reduced prices. Also, if you sign up to newsletters or Facebook pages, you’ll often receive news of amazing offers. In short, looking your best has never been easier or more affordable. First, of course, you have to find a salon. A good place to start would be Skin Health Spa – a small chain of clinics with six branches across the UK, including two in London (The City and Marylebone). We decided to check out the Marylebone outlet (16 Thayer Street, W1U 3JU). We’ve visited several beauty clinics but can honestly say that Skin Health Spa offers a huge range of treatments. I booked in for a microdermabrasion. I arrived on a Friday afternoon and was directed to the downstairs

treatment rooms, where I was placed in the capable hands of my therapist, Cheryl. For those who don’t know,

microdermabrasion is a form of deep scrubbing: your skin is very lightly sanded, with the exfoliated skin cells sucked away by a suction unit. That might sound painful, but it’s not. The sensation is more like a dry brushing and sucking. It’s followed by a light facial, extraction and moisturizing, making it very good value for money (a one-off treatment is £85). Afterwards, my skin was

remarkably fresh and soft. I took the opportunity to grill Cheryl about other treatments, quizzing her about the various different peels that are available at Skin Health Spa – from simple glycolic peels to more radical treatments. The salon also offers various facials, laser treatments and skin rejuvenation, dermal fillers, wrinkle-relaxing injections, removal of skin tags and warts, and derma roller treatments. IPL [intense pulse light] skin rejuvenation and derma roller

both stimulate the production of new collagen in your skin, helping to combat wrinkles and reduce past damage from sun exposure.

Check out the Skin Health

Spa website for a range of offers, including a ‘£30 Test Our Theory’: pay £30 for a taster treatment, and if you’re not happy with the results, then you don’t have to pay. If you’re looking for an excuse to try, that’s a pretty unbeatable offer!
