EASTER DISCOTEC

Discotec is back! The much-missed gay club is returning for a one-off Easter special on Thursday 5 April (the night before Good Friday bank holiday). It will take place in the gorgeous Brixton Club House – with the weather just about warm enough for us to hope for the outdoor terrace to be in use. With or without the terrace, the venue boasts two floors to explore, with dancefloors sure to be busy thanks to the sounds being laid down by Marron Bitch (aka DJ Fidel), Femi B, Guy Williams, Slamma and Jeffrey Hinton. Doors will open at 10pm and close at 4am with admission just £5 before midnight and then £10 after. You’ll find the Brixton club house at 467- 469 Brixton Road, London SW9 8HH. For more details, check the Facebook page at ‘discotecclub’.

SUMMER RITES

Following the success of last year’s event, it’s been announced that Summer Rites is set to return to London this summer. Older readers may know that the boutique LGBT festival first appeared in the late 90s, before disappearing at the turn of the new century. The organisers took a decade-long break before resurrecting the event last summer. They’ve announced that the one-day event will return on Sunday 2 September to Shoreditch Park, Islington, from noon-10.30pm. A line-up of participating clubs and performers will be released on 29 March 2012. Limited £10 super advance discount tickets will then go on sale on 1 April! Tickets, and further information from the website of Facebook page. http://summer-rites.com
