Swim Lessons Pricing and Policies • Registration after deadline will require approval and payment of a $10 late fee. • Swim lesson level ages are only a general guide; instructors may place a child older or younger in a lesson level. • If you are unable to attend your class, there is no making the class up another day; we do our best to keep the student-teacher ratios consistent in order to teach classes successfully.

Kipper (Kp) Ages 6 months - 3 years Parent and child are in the


water together. Children work on water adjustment and gain physical and social development through games and activities in the pool. Child should wear a swim diaper.


Perch (Pr) Ages 2 - 3 Suggested to take Kipper fi rst. Children start mov-


ing independently through the water without parent as well as learn how to adjust to a class situation.


Pike (Pk) Ages 3 - 5 Designed for new swim- mers, teaching basic paddle


stroke, kicking skills and proper use of fl oatation devices.


Eel (El) Ages 3 - 5 Eel is advanced beginner level that reinforces Pike


skills, for children who are comfort- able in the water. Children are taught to kick, fl oat and perform basic paddle strokes. Children can swim 10 yds with the fl oatation device and 5 ft without by the end of this level.


Ray (Ry) Ages 3 - 5 Build endurance by swim- ming on their front and


back 1/2 length of the pool. Learn to tread water, jump off the blocks and perform basic diving skills.


Starfi sh (Sf) Ages 3 - 5 Participants refi ne their strokes and build endur-


ance up to 1 length of the pool without resting - swimming on front and back.


Polliwog (Pl) Ages 6 & up Polliwog is for begin- ning school age children. Participants work on water


adjustment, use of fl oatation devices, fl oating and basic swim strokes. By the end of this level they will know front, side and back stroke and will swim 1 length of the pool.


Advanced Polliwog (APL) Ages 6 & up This level is for students


who have taken Polliwog and have mastered all the strokes in a basic form. Building endurance to be more confi dent. Kids will work on form and stroke technique.


Guppy (Gp) Ages 6 & up Children perform all skills without a fl oatation device.


To enter this level they need to swim 1 length of the pool comfortably without rest. They will build their endurance up to 3 lengths of the pool with side breathing.


Minnow (Mn) Ages 6 & up Minnow is the initial inter- mediate level. Children re-


fi ne the strokes they have learned, are introduced to breaststroke and learn more diving. They build their endurance up to 6 lengths of the pool.


Fish (F) Ages 6 & up Students work to perform the strokes with appro-


priate turns. They are introduced to butterfl y and build their endurance up to 10 lengths.


Flying Fish (FF) Ages 6 & up Students work on perform- ing butterfl y and refi n-


ing previously learned strokes. They increase their endurance up to 14 lengths.


Shark (Shk) Ages 6 & up Students at this level continue to improve their strokes with starts and


turns and are introduced to competi- tive swimming rules and form. They build their endurance up to 20 lengths.


Porpoise (Porp) Ages 6 & up


Students build up their en-


durance to 28 lengths of the pool and work on stroke refi nement and building endurance in all strokes. Swimmers are introduced to junior lifeguarding skills.

Every day, children learn the basics of swimming at the Y or enhance their skills with our progressive lessons that turn beginners into experts, polliwogs into sharks. And our kids are having fun, being healthy and learning the life- long skill of swimming and water safety at the same time!.


Choose from Pre-school & Youth Les- sons designed to grow their confi dence in the water no matter their skill level. And remember our Parent / Child Les- sons introduce infants and toddlers to the water while teaching parents basic water safety.
