SPANISH MODERN BRITISH
THE GALLERY Located in a picturesque square in the heart of the Lanes, the Gallery celebrates the best of British cuisine. The seasonal menu specialises in locally sourced steaks and seafood, including: freshly caught mussels, Sussex beer battered cod, and for vegetarians the homemade goats cheese tart or wild mushroom risotto definitely hits the spot. With alfresco dining in the square, it’s perfect for a lunch date, business meeting, an intimate dinner for two or a celebration with friends. This is fine dining with a laid back twist... so very ‘Brighton’. Nathalie Gomez de Vera

AGUADULCE Following an extensive refurbishment including a new bar area, Carlo’s family- friendly restaurant and tapas bar continues to delight both visitors and regulars with his varied menu including specials at the weekend. Famed for his homemade paella, fantastic selection of tapas, suckling pig, fresh seafood dishes and chicken – try the black rice with cuttlefish prawns and squid served with alioli – tops for taste! You can also sit at the new bar and enjoy wine and tapas. A slice of Spain yards from Brighton seafront, AguaDulce is consistently highly rated in Trip Advisor, so pop in and try for yourself. Don’t miss live flamenco and Spanish/classical guitar - check the website for details! Nathalie Gomez de Vera

THAI SABAI THAI
GASTROBAR Sabai Thai Gastrobar is one of my favourite eateries, conveniently located alongside Royal Pavilion Gardens in the heart of the city. To help you explore the tastes, smells and colours of Thailand, the kitchen have prepared four set menus, each focussing on the cuisine of a different region of the country. Enjoy Som Tum from Issan in north east Thailand, or the delicious Chang Mai sausage from the far north. For those who like things hot and spicy,
try
the new ‘Weeping Tiger’ dish: succulent strips of marinated beef, barbecued and served with a sauce so spicy it would make a tiger cry. The perfect bite to savour with Sabai’s award-winning Chilli Mojito cocktail! Julia Claxton

GRILL THE OLD BANK VEGETARIAN
TERRE Á TERRE As a lifelong veggie, I tend not to get overly excited at eating out, however Terre á Terre utterly dispelled any doubts I had about vegetarian dining. The kitchen obviously has great fun (and skill!) conjuring up the playful dishes which are an explosion of taste, texture, colour and flavour. Particular favourites are the fabulous Terre á Tapas which gives you a little taste of many dishes on one plate, and the Better Batter & Lemony Yememi Relish (which a certain AA Gill enjoyed earlier this year). Don’t leave without trying the salt caramel truffles! Nathalie Gomez de Vera

STEAK & RIBS Authentic grilled and barbecued steaks, chicken, fish, burgers and of course ribs are the order of the day at this popular neighbourhood eatery in the heart of Kemp Town, approximately 10 minutes walk from the Lanes. Perfect for groups and families, there’s an extensive and well-priced menu of hearty food that delivers excellent value for money and happy diners. Try the finger-lickingly good pork ribs – lovingly prepared in a special marinade before being char-grilled. They’re absolutely delicious! There’s also an excellent wine list, chosen by Daily Telegraph and GQ wine critic Jonathan Ray, that features a wide selection of delicious wines for every palate and pocket. The Old Bank was a finalist in the 2011 Brighton and Hove Foodie Awards. Nick Mosley

DRAKES Ranked by the Good Food Guide as the best restaurant in the city, ‘the restaurant at drakes’ is a must for any visitor in search of a gourmet dining experience. The dining room is the epitome of understated elegance whilst also offering a relaxed and inviting backdrop for low key lunches and intimate dinners. The menu features inventive modern British dishes, including superb meats, and my favourite the poached lobster and squid ink risotto., Before or after dinner, relax in Drakes’ sophisticated cocktail lounge for some of the best drinks in town.
