TRAVELING TO THE TOURNAMENT
Professional golf has been a fixture in Northeast Florida since the 1940s when Sam Snead captured the Jacksonville Open. That tradition continues today with the maturity of THE PLAYERS Championship. THE PLAYERS is one of the largest events held in Northeast Florida, with an estimated economic impact in excess of $150 million, according to a study conducted by the University of Florida. Nearly 2,000 jobs are estimated to be created as a result of THE PLAYERS each year. Additionally, THE PLAYERS has generated more than $46 million for local charities in the five-county area since 1977.
