is a new floral, fresh fragrance from the world renowned lingerie brand. Created by celebrated perfumers Veronique Nyberg and Alienor Massenet of the IFF, the scent opens with top notes of sweet raspberry, crisp pear and pink pepper. Heart notes of rose, cyclamen and violet lead to base notes of patchouli, amber and sandalwood. The bottle echoes the emblematic lines of La Perla’s classic fragrance form 1987, while its vanilla pink colour fits perfectly with this season’s celebration of seaside pastels and hazy, romantic summer nights. Marc Jacobs Splash Tropical Collection 2012 comprises three scents designed to transport the wearer to a warm island oasis. The collection
includes the popular Rain splash, along with two new coastal collections: Kumquat and Hibiscus. Rain features top notes of wet cut grass, wild strawberry and clementine zest, heart notes of tropical rain accord, passion flower and white orchid, and base notes of beech amber, tree moss and musks. Kumquat blends top notes of tangerine pulp, bergamot, and orange zest with heart notes of kumquat, jasmine petals and tiger orchid, and base notes of sun-drenched woods and blond cedarwood. Wearing perfume is a personal form of self expression, so it’s deflating to smell your signature scent on others. Entering the world of niche perfumes – whether from the high- end lines of established fragrance houses, or the exclusive creations of indie perfumers – virtually guarantees that you’ll be the only one who smells like you. While there are heaps of gorgeous mass-market perfumes, niche perfumes are generally made with better ingredients and greater artistry. L’Artisan Parfumeur is one of my favorite niche lines. Its Safran Troublant is a standout, intertwining saffron, rose, vanilla and sandalwood in a creamy, sensual blend that smells like nuzzleable skin. Frédéric Malle’s perfumes are created by the world’s leading noses, who are given access to the best raw materials, his Carnal Flower is a transcendentally beautiful tuberose. A brand new scent to sniff out is Annick Goutal’s Nuit Etoilée, which conjures twilight in the Rocky Mountains. Smoky woods are accented by herbal mint and fir balsam - it’s fresh and mysterious.
