LIFESTYLE ON WATER

people who own a cabin cruiser become the captain of their boat. Most people who own yachts hire a professional captain and possibly their own chef. This is really to suggest that money is a major factor if you happen to be shopping for a yacht. On a lighter note, I can always remember the guys that drove the neatest cars, and dated the best looking women. If by chance you owned a boat, things got even better. It’s interesting to know just what might happen if you owned a yacht. Suffice it to say, there are a lot more boats than yachts. You might take a cabin cruiser one-hundred miles out to sea – you can take a yacht around the world, and that’s what the yacht people tend to do. They go where the weather is delightful, and they don’t stay in hotels when they get there. The more I think about this, I must admit that personally, I don’t know anyone who owns a yacht. Worse than that, I don’t think I have ever been on a yacht. I do know this … most people are in the same situation. There just aren’t a whole lot of yachts out there. When the price tag gets into the millions, you are not going to see tons of yachts. The photographs tend to speak for them-

selves. We are talking about a very small percentage of the population that will buy something from this presentation. Having said that, you can always charter a yacht when there is no need to own one. This opens it up to an entirely different audience. All of a sudden there is something to consider for birthdays; anniversaries; a wedding, whatever. There is a yacht for every occasion and we’re talking about something very affordable in the three to five-hundred thousand dollar range. The big question is when they deliver your

new yacht, where do you take it? Where do these yacht people go? From April to October, it might be the French Riviera (Cannes, St. Tropez, Nice, and Monaco) or possibly Spain or Italy. Greece can be a fun spot, and even Australia is a possibility.

If you choose to stay local, there is always Florida and the Bahamas, and most certainly the beautiful Caribbean islands. The list goes on and on (Brazil, Tahiti, Singapore, and Bora Bora). You get the picture – the destinations drive

the yacht industry, and the various yacht enthusiasts enjoy what one might call “the good life”. The bottom line is as follows – get yourself a yacht and lavishly sail away.
