You may not look like a movie star or live the glamorous Hollywood lifestyle, but with a little help from Artistic Hardware you can feel like a movie star in your own home.
Planted in the middle of the Artistic Hardware showroom is a giant copper bath tub, priced at $10,000, that looks like something out of a spaghetti western. “I call it the Clint Eastwood model,” says store owner Pat McCarthy, who certainly has a flare for cinematic design. “You can see ol’ Clint in there with the hat down over his eyes, smoking a cigar.”
The solid hammered copper tub, with a nickel- plated interior, is made by Barclay Bath Products and it is new to Artistic Hardware since the store’s move to its new location at 430 Tilton Road in Northfield. It fits with the store’s unique array of custom plumbing and lighting fixtures, home hardware, and bath accessories many of which have appeared on the sets of recent movies such as Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, or
television shows such as “The Gossip Girl” and “Fringe.”
But that’s only part of the narrative driving the success of Artistic Hardware, which is now settling comfortably into a new showcase for its sculpted designs and state-of-the-art fixtures. “It’s a bigger display space,” McCarthy says. “We had four suites in London Square, but the actual showroom space is a bit larger here. Plus, the location increases our visibility by leaps and bounds over where we were before. The signage is nice; the stand-alone building is nice, too. We’re no longer part of a shopping center. The weekend traffic has been great.”
The showroom includes a fully-functional powder room/bath, with a $1,200 heated bidet toilet by Toto. A visitor can adjust the temperature and pressure of the spritzer or control the deodorizing fan while seated like a king on his throne.
