Lifestyle Nostalgia
We have established our tourism district, new agencies, and master plan. Quali- fied, bright and enthusiastic people are at the helm, such as Ms. Cartmell and John Palmieri of the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority. We are welcoming Revel, the first new casino resort in our town since 2003. We have unbelievable positive energy and unprecedented cooperation among key movers and shakers. Just as important, we finally have a substantial marketing budget — thirty million dollars a year for five years, compared to just a few million in years past. The campaign is now launch- ing on television, radio, print, digital and outdoor advertising. Yet, with all of that, each of us who call the Atlantic City area our home can do our part. Whether it is taking extra time to give directions to a visitor, participating in an organization to improve the city, or, for industry employees, always sharing a smile and going that extra mile for a cus- tomer. We all can contribute to making this city an “experience”. At “Do AC Proud”, I watched person after person share their experiences, their commitment and their love of this won- derful city. I drifted back to the days that I visited the Jersey shore with my family and how much I have loved this town and its people for the almost thirty years that I have lived here. As if in the car on the way to the shore with my family, I felt that tingling inside once again. I knew it was the start of something special, the beginning of something great — the resurgence of Atlantic City. Just like that day back in 1978, someday I will be able to say, “I was there…”
