Interview with Robert Gallagher Project Co-ordinator for club ‘LATE’


Q1: What is LATE?


LATE is an inclusive nightclub which is being launched at The Arches. It has been set up in response to people with disabilities who are looking for a welcoming, inclusive environment in which to enjoy themselves


Q2: Why is this night being held at The Arches?


The Arches have been great and at the very start of the project agreed that they would like to work in partnership with us, providing all the facilities & venue for free. The Arches is one of Europe’s top nightclubs so needless to say we are thrilled to have them on board.


Q3: Why have a nightclub aimed at people with learning disabilities?


The night is aimed at people with learning disabilities though not exclusively for, anyone can come along. Until now, people with learning disabilities have felt most comfortable going along to charity run discos. We felt that if we could host a night which was fully inclusive and aimed at an audience of people with learning disabilities, we could provide the welcoming experience they have been looking for in a real club environment.


Interview with DJ Bowers DJ at club ‘LATE’


Q1: How long have you been DJ’ing?


It was 1995 and my foster family hired a DJ for my foster Dad’s 50th birthday party. I really liked the DJ and it inspired me to try it out for myself. I have been DJ’ing now at events for over 10 years.


Q2: Could you tell me about your involvement in club ‘LATE’?


I really wanted to be involved in starting up a club night. I talked to some of the folk at dates-n-mates who were really keen to help start up a club night aimed at people with learning disabilities. We then got Robert Gallagher from C-Change involved who talked to the people at ‘The Arches, they were amazing and said they were more than happy to host the night. I will be the main DJ on the night and am really looking forward to it!


Q3: What kind of music will you be playing on the night?


I will be playing what I would describe as up-beat dance tunes as well as popular chart hits and some RnB. There will be something for everyone!
