Biodex Equipment to Benefit Concussion Management Program


JAKE MCGREGoR, a representative of Biodex Medical Services, provides a demonstration of a balance system to Barclay Dugger ’96, head athletic trainer and assistant professor of exercise science and sport studies in the athletic training program. The system is used for concussion management, as well as training and testing in the areas of stability, fall risk, and postural stability. It will have interdisciplinary benefit as students in the athletic training and physical therapy programs will be trained to use it. Springfield College Names Veteran Journalist Director of Marketing and Communications


STEPHEN A. RoULiER of Southwick, Mass., has joined Springfield College as director of the marketing and communications department. In making the announcement, Springfield College President Richard B. Flynn said, “We had a group of outstanding candidates and are pleased to welcome Steve as a member of our team.” Roulier is respon- sible for strategic marketing, public relations, and brand management. For the last 11 years,


Roulier worked in the marketing and external affairs office at Western New England University, focusing on media relations, advertising, and social media. A 20-year television, radio, and newspaper veteran, Roulier previously worked for NBC affiliates WWLP-TV22 in Springfield, Mass., WNNE-TV31 in White River Junction, Vt., and WGEM-TV10 in Quincy, Ill. He is a member of the national executive committee of the Public Relations Society of


America’s Counselors to Higher Education chapter and is chair of the chapter’s annual Senior Summit in Washington, D.C. He serves on several non-profit boards and volunteers in Massachusetts and Connecticut. He holds a bachelor of science degree in communications from Castleton (Vermont) State College (1985) and is a graduate of Hoosac Valley High School in Cheshire, Mass. He has two teenage daughters.

Springfield College Professor Inducted into Northeast Women's Hall of Fame for Promoting Advancement of Girls and Women in Sport


KATHLEEN J. MANGANo ’86, G’88, Ed.D., associate professor of physical education and chair of the physical education and health education department, recently was inducted into the New Agenda: Northeast Women's Hall of Fame. She was honored for promoting the advancement of girls and women in sport. Mangano served as the College’s head softball coach for 20 years until 2009. New Agenda: Northeast recognizes women


who have committed themselves to girls and women in sport throughout New England. Mangano joins other Springfield College faculty inductees including Head Women's Basketball Coach Naomi Graves G’85, professor Mimi Murray, Ph.D., ’61, G’67, retired Head Field Hockey Coach Dottie Potter Zenaty ’65, and retired Head Softball Coach Diane Potter, Ed.D., ’57, G’63.
