A LOOK BACK Are you one of our legacies? Springfield College has many legacy families. We asked you to send us your pictures and family connections, which follow.

Members of the Class of 1981 with their children who are now students at Springfield College or alumni from the Class of 2011.

From left, in front, are Jimmy Kelley '13, Mary Holly Blalock '84, and Steve Kelley '78. In back, from left are Ellen Matthews Bissaillon '82, Ernie Bissaillon '82, and Colleen Matthews Torbett '79

Lt. Col. Bill Jinks '73, (right) and his nephew, 1st Lt. Rob Jinks '05, participated in the Veterans Memorial Ceremony held during Bill's 35th class reunion in 2008. Bill was the speaker and Rob the emcee for the event. Of Rob sharing his alma mater, Bill is quite proud. Three hours after Rob's graduation, on May 15, 2005, he was commissioned into the U.S. Army. Bill and Bill’s brother Bob, who is Rob’s father, pinned onto Rob the gold bars of a second lieu- tenant—the very same ones that were pinned on Bill during his commissioning on March 11, 1974.

Mark C DiFranco ‘81 (left) and M. Scott Smith ’80 (right) pose with their sons Kyle DiFranco ’13 (second from left) and Sean Smith ’14. Scott and his father (Sean’s grandfather) were both catchers for Pride baseball, as Sean is currently. Sean’s uncle, Brian Smith ’85, also is an alumnus and also was a catcher.

The top photo of Alexandra Lucey (left), grand- daughter of International Center founder and professor A.A. Kidess G’35, DPE’58, and daughter of alumni director Tamie Kidess Lucey ’81, G’82, and Alexandra Gilson, granddaughter of Tarbell Medallion recipient Howard Gilson Jr. ‘44 and daughter of Howie Gilson III ’74, was featured in the summer 1993 issue of Triangle magazine with the caption “Both one-year-old Alexandras would be third generation members of the class of 2014.” The prediction was correct and Alexandra Lucey (bottom left) and Alexandra Gilson are pictured together again, this time wearing their beanies at New Student Orientation in September 2010. Both photographs were taken by Paul Schnaittacher.

Members of the Osgood family are uncertain whether they would classify themselves as "legacies" but say they “are definitely family members who have a great deal of love and respect for Springfield College.” From left are Jeffrey Osgood ’02, Timothy Osgood ’07, Matthew Osgood ’04, and Shannon Vogt Osgood ’03. Jeff and Shannon were married in Marsh Memorial Chapel in 2006.
