After the service, the Bishop was interviewed before an audience of year 9 students. When asked for a final word to the boys he appealed that there be an open mind towards religion.

This year’s Festival highlights the year’s main events, from the London Games to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Along with the floral displays in the church there will also be a crafts sale in the Old Granary including pictures from local artists, hand-made cards, books, and many more items.

The Vicar, The Rev Derek Spencer, says of the Festival, “In the Bible there’s a verse that says ‘You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colours in the world’. It’s a reminder of the colour, vibrancy and life we can all bring to the world through having been created in the image of God.”

Francis Pole says, “Since I first visited the Holy Land in 1984 the places in the Bible have come alive for me. When reading the Gospels I can visualise the places where Jesus walked, talked, taught, healed people – which has, in turn, enriched and deepened my faith.”
