Winners of the WOMEX World Music Award 2008, Muzsikás have helped make Hungarian folk music global. Touring worldwide, they are now as celebrated and popular overseas as they are in their home country, presenting exceptional live performances at the greatest festivals and most prestigious concert halls. Masters of the ancient musical traditions of Hungarian folk bands, they perform wedding and round dance music, long flute melodies and slow and fast Czardas, evoking the captivating rhythms, beautiful melodies and

exciting atmosphere of remote Hungarian villages. They are joined by their guest, the native Hungarian- Moldovan “Csángó” singer Mária Petrás. Her richly ornamented singing is part of the authentic tradition which attracted Béla Bartók to transcribe this music a hundred years ago.

“Probably the best known Hungarian folk-roots group in the world – they rightly deserve to be as famous as they are.” RootsWorld Magazine.

“Ebullient …raucously beautiful music.” The New York Times.
