Connection welcome

CM17 contents Hello and welcome to the April edition of the CM17 Connection.

OK it is offi cially summertime now and it’s good to see everything coming into life - even the weather has perked up, hasn’t it been lovely!

If you like to run or jog the next few weeks and months could be a busy time for you, as there are plenty of local events to train for and take part in. To start things off on Sunday 1st April St Clare are holding their 10k run, swiftly followed on Easter Monday by a 5k fun run around Church Langley organised by the Church Langley Residents’ Association. If that’s not enough Harlow running club start their annual ladies 5k series in May & June, followed by the Harlow 10 in July. We all need goals; perhaps entering one of these could be yours...

April also see’s a new direction for local restaurateurs, Steve and Anne-Marie Taylor, who open Gusto their new Italian restaurant at the Gables this month. With Bruno their head chef, they’ll be bringing a taste of Italy to the high street - can’t wait!

Call me a big kid but I for one can’t wait to go Easter Egg hunting, one of my all time favourite places to do this is at the Gibberd Gardens - it’s such a beautiful location, the kids are so preoccupied looking for eggs that you have time to really appreciate the gardens. That said, it is a great place for children with the moat, swing, things to hide behind, in or under - magical. Topped off with homemade cakes and a cuppa afterwards counts for an afternoon that everyone enjoys. Having said that, there could be a new kid on the block as far as Easter egg hunts are concerned. This year there is going to be a human Easter Egg Hunt at St Mary’s Church, Churchgate Street. Details on both events and many more can be found on the Community and What’s On pages.

And fi nally, I’m delighted to be able to share the results of the Eden hair makeover competition. The team at Eden did a wonderful job and both Charlotte and Jenny (who accepted the prize on behalf of her mum who had recently had her hair restyled) were thrilled with the results. Judge for yourselves and turn to page 31 where Wendy from Eden talks us through the transformations. My thanks to the team at Eden and also to Jenny and Charlotte for allowing us to view the end results.

Happy Easter! Lorraine
