Bibliography

Ashley Burns is half way through a part time MSc in Energy Efficient and Sustainable Building at Oxford Brookes. The initial research into LIPS was to provide a fuller explanation to a solution for a mini-research project for the modules on “The Sustainable Built Environment: - A Bioregional Approach”. Ashley Burns has previously studied for four years at the School of Architecture at the Technikon Witwatersrand now renamed University of Johannesburg. During that period of time, natural techniques were emphasised and drummed in by the lecturers. This knowledge has been incorporated into the last 18 years of his UK architectural career, leading to several publications and competition wins.

Figure 02. The same location earlier this year. The river has flooded well over the bank. The LIPS proposal will eliminate this type of risk to person and property.
