General Camp

Besides daily swim lessons, hiking, songs, fi eld games and arts and crafts, girls will participate in weekly theme activities (theme announced on fi rst day of each session), a Special Interest Day (where they select their special activity), badge work, fi re building and a lunch cookout. Girls will strengthen their self-esteem and promote teamwork when participating in the Low Ropes Challenge Course and Team Building Initiatives. Explore the stream and forest with the Environmental Education Specialist. Girls will be grouped in units of 16 to 20 girls according to grade level. Days are busy and the time fl ies by!


Pony Fun 1

Under the supervision of trained professionals, this basic program introduces girls to horsemanship in a safe, non-threatening manner. Girls interact with ponies while learning grooming, leading and basic care of horses. Elementary riding in the ring or hand-walking on trails (weather permitting) is included in the daily 1 ½ hrs. of equestrian time Mon., Tues., Thurs. and Fri.. Campers will spend the remainder of each day participating in the General Camp activities listed above.


Pony Fast Track

For those who have already participated in Jockey Hollow’s Pony Fun program, Pony Fast Track is just for you! With more riding time, more interactive learning and mounted games, and an upbeat pace, this daily 1 ½ hrs. of equestrian time Mon., Tues., Thurs. and Fri. will prepare participants for a smooth transition into the Horsemanship program. Campers will spend the remainder of each day participating in the General Camp activities listed above.

Girls spend two fun-fi lled hours a day, Mon., Tues., Thurs. and Fri. the fi rst week and Mon. through Thurs. the second week, at the corral, including 25 to 30 minutes riding horses. Under the supervision of trained professionals, this 2-week program for beginner and intermediate riders offers a variety of equestrian activities including grooming, tacking, and trail etiquette. A trail ride and a gymkhana will be offered on the last day. Campers will spend the remainder of each day participating in the General Camp activities listed above. The last Fri. of the session is a regular General Camp day. Session 2 has an optional overnight for girls in grades 3 to 9 on July 11 for an additional $25. See page 5 for details.
