Entering Grades


Description TEEN PROGRAMS


Girls entering grades 6 to 9 have the option of participating in General Camp or Teen programs. The teen programs include swimming, Low Ropes Challenge Course, environmental education, cookouts, badge work and other general camp activities, as well as the specialized activities listed below.

Swing a hammer, use a screwdriver and work with a level. Under the guidance of a professional, campers will acquire new skills by using a hammer and nails to write their name in wood and build a wooden birdhouse to take home. Gleam with pride as your construction team constructs a shed for camp as a fi nal project!


CIT


Counselor in Training

9-10 (Must be 14 yrs. old as of 7/2/12)


Girls entering grades 9 and 10 (and who are 14 yrs. old as of 7/2/12) can register for this two-week leadership training program. During the fi rst week, girls will develop the skills needed to mentor younger girls and understand their needs in a camp setting. Next, use these newly-acquired skills under the guidance of camp counselors in the units during the second week. Upon completion of the program, girls are encouraged to volunteer for one or more weeks during the remainder of summer camp. Girls earn the CIT pin.


CIT II

Girls who have completed the CIT Counselor in Training program will continue to build their camp counselor skills during this two-week session. During the fi rst week, girls will focus on one of the four specialty areas of camp, as well as learn safety and risk management and unit planning. During the second week, the girls will be assigned to a specialist who will supervise them as they plan and execute activities for the campers and work alongside unit staff. The CITs will also plan and execute a portion of the All-Camp Program. Upon completion of the program, girls are encouraged to volunteer for one or more weeks during the remainder of summer camp. Girls earn the CIT II pin.


Only girls who complete this training and are 16 yrs. old by the start of the following summer may be considered for hire as Junior Counselors.


Session 2 : July 9 - July 13 Survivor 2 7/9 - 7/13 6-9


Tribe On! Back by popular demand, girls will spend the week learning how to live off the land by building a debris hut, constructing a nature still for water, becoming confi dent with a compass and map, and assembling a personal survivor kit to keep. Sleep over Wednesday night and become a night prowler (included in price). The week culminates with a Survivor Challenge! All the fun without being eliminated at Tribal Council!
