Bartlett Jr. High Students Rally to Gain “240” Text and Photos
by Patriot staff On Thursday afternoon
March 15th, the entire 7th grade class of Bartlett Ju- nior High School gathered in the school cafeteria to kick off a pep rally of sorts. The occasion for the event was to pump students’ con- fidence levels up for the up- coming MCAS standardized testing. The rally was also a great way for their teach- ers and the school’s faculty to show their support of the students in gaining a “Profi- cient” score of at least “240” on their exams. Teachers stressed to the students that they already possess the skills and the knowl- edge to tackle the tests, and they should believe in their abilities. This is the 2nd Annual
MCAS “240”party that has been held at the school and it was attended by the en- tire 7th grade class. This year’s festivities included a cupcake decorating com- petition which highlighted the “240” score theme. The battle cry was “Take a BITE out of the MCAS!” On hand to give a few words of en- couragement and judge some very well decorated cupcakes were School Su- perintendent Dr. Gregory

Ciardi, Principal Dr. Steve Dlott, and Helen Rowlings, the school’s Vice Principal. Lara DeRose and Sarah Kane organized the event. Bartlett Junior High
School would like to thank the Webster Shaw’s Super- market for their generosity in donating the cupcakes, frosting and other decora- tions that made the event possible, as well as Beth Esposito and the Bartlett Jr. High PTO.
Starting with the suggestion from Alison Downer (daughter of Deputy Grand Knight Chris Downer and wife Paula), the Shepherd Hill Tri-M Music Honor Society began collecting food in all of their music classes. This past week the Officers of the Tri-M Music Honor Society delivered a veritable mountain of food to the Knights of Columbus Council #228 Webster. The Knights of Colum- bus forwarded the donation to the Saint Vincent DePaul Society of Worcester for redistribution. Non-perishable food items are regularly col- lected at Saint Louis Church and at all Knights of Columbus functions. Many thanks go out to the students and parents who took the time and made the effort to donate food.
