SAVVY Toys Feature: The Boss is Back
twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) mechanism used on the Mustang GT. More aggressive control calibration on the Boss yields 440 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque, while still offering a smooth idle and low-end torque for comfortable around-town driving.
To celebrate the racing heritage of the new Mustang Boss 302, Ford also offers a limited number of Boss 302 Laguna Seca models, named for the track where Parnelli Jones won the 1970 Trans-Am season opener in a Boss 302. The Seca models expand on Boss racing aspirations, deleting the rear seat and adding race-ready suspension and aerodynamic treatments.
The Boss will be Back for 2013 with new heritage-inspired School Bus Yellow paint and Sterling Gray accents on the Laguna Seca model.
Quick Facts: Ford gave the green light only once before: In 1968, management approved a special Mustang-a car that sacrificed nothing in its quest to be the best all-around road-going performance machine ever created by Ford Motor Company. That car became the 1969 Mustang Boss 302, and it remains one of the world's most sought-after examples of American performance. Ford gave the green light again for the 2012 Mustang Boss 302, and the Boss will be back again for 2013.
2012 Mustang Boss 302 is set to become the quickest, best-handling straight-production Mustang ever offered by Ford. Based on the world-class foundation provided by the 2011 Mustang GT, the Boss is upgraded in nearly every vehicle system. The engine output, quad exhaust, brakes, suspension, interior and exterior were all examined to optimize weight, aerodynamics and track performance. Available exterior colors on the 2012 are Competition Orange, Performance White, Kona Blue Metallic, Yellow Blaze Tri-Coat Metallic and Race Red with either a black or white roof panel, coordinated to the color of the side C-stripe. The 2013 Boss continues to build on the heritage with a new, reflective hockey stick graphics package - the first modern application on a production car.
The V8 engine team approached Boss from the top down: With 412 horsepower from
5.0 liters, the 2011 GT engine was already an incredible performer. Helping the intake build power, revised camshafts using a more aggressive grind are actuated with the same

The Boss even comes with a complimentary “Track Attack” program, offered through Team Mustang and Ford Racing. Designed to give Boss owners a comprehensive, hands-on look at exactly what their cars are capable of and just how much fun they can be, the program includes a full Boss immersion, driving instruction and plenty of track time with engineers and racers. It's held at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, outside of Salt Lake City. Boss owners need to make their own travel and lodging arrangements, but once in Utah, the full track experience — including cars for the event — is courtesy of Ford.

Steve says: I can't wait to get behind the wheel of this one! Be sure to check our savvytrucksandtoys page on Facebook for updates on this experience. There, I'll be driving the Mustang as well as the new Taurus and Flex at an upcoming driving event hosted by Ford in Portland, Oregon.
Beverly says: Perhaps we should send a warning to the people of Portland, Oregon, that Steve is coming to town for Ford's test driving event! What I find most impressive about a car like this is the passion behind it. The team of Ford engineers, designers and stylists—all Mustang enthusiasts to the core—was the same team that created the amazing 2011 Mustang GT. The story of how the team strengthened, lightened and refined each system to create this race car with license plates is inspiring. If everyone performed their work with equal passion, think of the possibilities!

Lower Back Pain: Could It Really Be Hip,Thigh, Knee, Leg or Foot Problems?
Lower back pain is confusing even to pain experts, because the maze of many different interacting conditions which is common, varies with each person, yet the most basic facts and important details could provide a sensible and workable solution for cases which are not responsive to prevailing methods.
One set of interacting problems which causes lumbar back pain problems, starts with a foot problem that is tolerated, but not solved. This forces the body to adapt by positioning the foot to minimize further damage and discomfort. That adjustment also requires the lower leg and thigh to adapt, which undermines the pelvis— the foundation of the back. Next, muscles of the lower back are repeatedly overused to adapt to the situation, and the body's ability to adapt reaches overload.
Fixing it: Small details make a big difference… Pain mapping along with your history intake, begins to organize the confusing mix of sensations and reactions you're experiencing, and compares your problem to medically documented trigger point diagrams. A list of muscles known to cause trigger point pain in your complaint area are massaged with attention to detail and thoroughness, looking for areas of restriction and adhesion, taut bands of muscle and trigger point knots. Myofascial Release Technique also known as deep tissue massage, uses skilled touch - palpation - to simultaneously assess and address muscle (myo) and the connective tissue (fascia) that surrounds and interlaces muscle.
