London’s Olympia, is set to be a great opportunity to take stock of the latest technology and share best practice. With over 120 exhibiting companies and 20 free seminars, we take a forward look at what will be on offer. “Once again Parkex will see the coming together of the

industry’s key suppliers and clients,” says BPA chief executive Patrick Troy. “I’m expecting to see some exciting new innovations alongside the best services the parking profession has to offer.” Bill Butler, Parkex 2012 event director, says they are already 19 per cent ahead on bookings compared to this time last year. He thinks the increase is partly down to location – last year Parkex was held at the NEC in Birmingham in conjunction with Traffex, as it is every other year. “London is a really big draw, with most visitors tending to come
from the south,” he says. “The venue, London’s Olympia, is larger than we’d normally need but we’ve almost sold out with only a few stands left to go.”

There will also be two case studies from overseas for the first time – one from LA and one from Canada, adding a global view for the audience, 90 per cent of whom are UK- based. “Car parks are an important area in terms of revenue, so
efficiency savings are one of the big issues,” he adds. “Managing effectively to make sure everything is running an efficiently as possible, utilising technology to expand customer choice and thinking about different ways of doing things are the big themes and we’ve noticed an increase in the amount of energy saving products like low voltage LEDs and car chargers this year. “The parking experience is a critical part of what attracts
customers to spend in a shopping centre. If you get the car park right, there’s a powerful case for someone to come to your centre rather than a competitor’s. “Parkex will showcase the latest systems and technology for a modern, up to date and safe car park. It’s easy to get to, free and I
