‘Prom’ at CCA stokes ’80s memories
Youth orchestra performs A party complete with characters from favorite 1980s movies takes center stage at the Chandler Center
for the Arts for the sixth year with performances of “The Awesome ’80s Prom” at 8 p.m. Mon., March 19 through Sat., March 24. The captain of the football team, the Asian exchange student, the geek and the hottie head cheerleader
are all competing for prom king and queen, but the audience decides who wins. Come “Back in Time” – to quote a Huey Lewis tune, moonwalk to retro hits, join the break-dance circle or just sit back and watch the ’80s drama unfold. NEA CHAIR VISITS: Rocco Landesman, chairman for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) visited the Vision Gallery recently and area Chandler Arts Commission members, other community members and VisionKidz students, Victoria Kellogg, joined a reception held in his honor. According to Visual Arts Coordinator Eric Faulhaber, Landesman came to Chandler to see an example of creating arts spaces in public facilities. Info:
