Virtual school hosts information session

With virtual schools on the rise, parents may now have an answer when their children say they don’t feel like going to school. Nearly two million students nationwide are taking some of their classes online and, by 2014, almost 10 million students

will be doing so, according to Brian Rosta of Arizona Connections Academy, a tuition-free, accredited virtual public school. ACA will host an information session from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Mon., April 2 at the Radisson Hotel, 7475 W. Chandler Blvd. “This is a terrific opportunity for families to learn about our online program and individualized approach to education,” says

Rosta, ACA’s principal. “We follow the same curriculum as a traditional school, but students can work at their own pace, advancing quickly or taking extra time with teachers on subjects that are more challenging.” The session will cover such topics as the school’s program and curriculum, enrollment process, how teachers interact with

students in a virtual environment, college preparation and social events like field trips and clubs. ACA is available to K-12 students who reside in Arizona. Enrolled students receive a computer and books at no charge. For information, call 480-782-5842, or visit www.connectionsacademy.com/arizona.
