CIGAR SMOKE

Briar Patch Smoke Shop F

BY WOODY SMITH ounded in 1983, the Briar Patch at Arden Fair Mall quickly became Northern California's premier smoke shop. In August 2009

a new location was opened at Loehmann’s Plaza. The Briar Patch at Loehmann's Plaza features the Diamond Crown Cigar Lounge and is nearly four times the size of the store at Arden Fair Mall. The Briar Patch has created a welcoming atmosphere for you to come in, sit down and enjoy a cigar or pipe at your leisure.

Lou Rodriguez- Reserva Maduro- Toro Reserva blend, features a notably smooth San Andreas wrapper around Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos. The cigars have flawless construction. It’s a medium-bodied blend with lots of earth and just a hint of sweetness. With flavor notes of bittersweet chocolate and cof- fee present within this cigar, it smokes softer than one might think. It’s a very well balanced maduro and burns very well. A great cigar that will pair very well with a big red wine. You might want to leave this one for the 19th so you can truly enjoy it.

Paul Garmarian Gourmet Series No. 1 “The Unknown Treasure” Probably the most unappreciated cigar size in the US, the Lancero is long and slender and packed full of flavor. The cigar is going to start out with some wood notes. About 1/3 of the way into the cigar, a mild citrus sweet- ness emerges with this smoke. This is pretty much how the cigar is going to smoke to the end. The finish was not harsh - it was cool and firm. It was smooth from start to finish.

Diamond Crown Julius Caesar Churchill “Worthy of any Occasion” The smoke is warm and fuzzy, as well as fairly creamy. Generating a mouth full of rich, warm flavor that has an appeal both to the palate and the nose, the Julius Caeser is also incredibly easy on the eyes. This cigar is sure to fit the bill whether you are celebrating or just hanging out watching a game.

Diamond Crown, Maximus, Pyramid #3 The first Diamond Crown line was developed by Stanford Newman and the Fuente family to celebrate the 100th anniversary of JC Newman Cigar Company. The Maximus, released in 2003, features an Ecuadorian sun- grown wrapper from the El Bajo region. I found the flavor to be smooth and spicy, but the aroma from the wrapper steals the show. It starts up with a hint of cedar that grows and grows over a steady smooth beat that heats up in intensity as the cigar burns. The Maximus is a medium to full bodied smoke that definitely delivers a ton of flavor!

Davidoff, Puro d’ Oro, Eminentes The new large Toro format, Eminentes is an imposing cigar. This cigar is a Dominican puro featuring Davidoffs rich new Yamasa wrapper. It delivers a strong, aromatic and delicious flavor with hints of coffee and spices. The Eminentes features all the great construction attributes that you have come to love about Davidoff cigars with a richer full bodied experience.
