If you did not attend last year’s Wild West weekend, then you will not want to miss out on it this year. There was so much going on and so many people to thank for volunteering their time to put on such an amazing show for all of you to enjoy. Herb Heck(aka Dirty Kettle) and his friends orga- nized the weekend and also had their tipi tour on display.

Sena did Native Story Telling and helped with the Drum Circle while her son Paul manned the Hawkblock station and let our campers try their hand at throwing a tomahawk. You could hear Joe playing and singing songs along with his guitar and he also had a tipi set up to tour along with his wife Mary Margaret who is a quilter.

Many of our campers enjoyed a Voyageur Canoe Ride from Glen and Jerry who also had a tipi set up to sleep in for the weekend. If you were here then you saw a longhorn steer named Cowboy, a few horses perform the horse circus, and pony rides that were led by Shannon, Penny, Mike and Sara. Dan and Kathy were gracious enough to bring their daughters Maryah to play her fiddle and Soaring Golden Eagle to do face paint-

ing. Dan and Kathy also helped with the Drum Circle and fire.

Jerry and Debbie from the International Wolf Federation were here with a display of wolf literature and showed a movie. Paula was here to help with the Drum Circle and was a crowd smudger for the ceremony.

Buffalo Big Mountain did an amazing whip demonstra- tion with his sidekick Athena. Buffalo also performed a dance ritual with his brother Buddy. Buddy Big Mountain was a big hit with the kids. He did a wonderful ventriloquist performance with his trusty sidekick Wendel P. Snodgrass and a few other puppet friends. They sang, they danced, they told stories and above all, they were funny. Buddy danced with his brother and also did a ventriloquist act with Joe before the wolf movie.

It was a wonderful weekend full of excitement and activities and we are pleased to say that Dirty Kettle and friends have agreed to come again this year. We look forward to having everyone back and hope that you will join us for Wild West Weekend at Indian Trails where you can get a glimpse of the past.
