Anew team is currently in the planning stages for
ICKFORD Carnival will continue in 2012 and will take place on Saturday,September 15, along with the Town Show.
the event and the theme for this year is ‘Colour & Noise’ or ‘The Olympics’. The event will be supporting two local Wickford charities, Be Child Cancer Awareand The Sarah Kitchener Perrow Fund, but other groups can apply for asmall grant. Barry Langmead, chairman of WickfordCarnival,
said: "The support from the people of Wickforddur- ing our ‘door to door’ collections and, the sale of the Carnival Day programme in August and the street collection on Carnival Day,enable us to sup- port charities. "Italso costs morethan £7,000 to hold this event
and without the financial support of anumber of sponsors this would not be possible." This year’ssponsors include The White Horse, Grand Central Bar &Grill, The Co-Operative Funeralcare, Michael Frank, Emblem, Essex Legacy 2012, The CLC and Bellissima Weddings - to name afew. The organisers arelooking for support from the
local community,fromthose who want to enter the procession and have astall at the Town Show,to others who have access to vehicles. In particular
they arelooking for acouple of people who can sparesome time, and who have access to avehi- cle with atow bar,tohelp tow the Carnival Court Float, or abusiness who has avehicle available most weekends. This is suretobeanexcellent event that will bring
