◆ HAVE your say on proposals for the regeneration of Pitsea town centre. London and Cambridge Properties Limited (LCP), owners of property in Pitsea centresince March 1995, have submitted proposals to Basildon Council to meet the council’s objective to regenerate Pitsea Town Centre. The proposals include anew Morrison’s supermarket, car park, servicing and possi- ble petrol filling station, and anew market with 50 stalls, ancillary storage and amenity building. It also includes demolishing the Railway
Tavernand Market Hall for redevelopment into modernretail units, refurbishing Pembroke House and associated shops, and improving landscaping. Have your say by visiting

◆ Adrab, grey block of metal portaloos has been transformed into an eco-habitat at WatTyler Park. The newly converted loos provide much needed visitor toilets inside –and homes for bugs, bees, bats and birds outside in the panels, which dec- orate and disguise the old container. Clad in honey-coloured larch planking,
the loos aretopped by agreen roof, with nooks and crannies to attract wildlife. A total of 300 plants will also create abright visual display in the spring as part of the £12,500 project which was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Veolia Pitsea Marshes Trust.

Eric, who has far exceeded that, spend hours each week transcribing people’s memories, and researching names on war memorials across the borough, to make a dossier for each parish.
