Granite State Pressure Wash: Cleaning House
Cleaning house: one of the best home maintenance and
improvement solutions. Upkeep and improvements to the home do not always involve costly or major repairs. There are very noticeable and valuable enhancements that can be done affordably. Professional cleaning of the home exterior is a relatively inexpensive improvement that provides noticeable results and increases your home’s value. It often astonishes homeowners to discover how beautiful their home looks after having it professionally cleaned. Mildew and environmental debris build up, gradually dulling, staining and fading the exterior of the home. This leaves the finish tired-looking and lackluster. Arranging to have it professionally cleaned every two to three years will help keep the siding clean and vibrant. Cleaning the exterior also discourages the growth of mold and mildew, both of which can cause allergic reactions, respiratory problems, as well as deterioration of the surfaces they inhabit. And when painting is unavoidable, a proper cleaning will help prepare the surface properly for repainting. The correct exterior cleaning process not only minimizes necessary scraping but insures against painting over unseen mold and mildew as well. Thinking of selling your home? A clean home is more appealing and discernibly more valuable to a buyer than a dull home covered with dirt, dust, and mildew. Whether selling, buying, or simply enjoying the present home, it’s a good idea to keep it clean and discourage the growth of mold and mildew.
Different techniques are required to clean
various types of siding and homeowners should be selective when choosing their service providers. Like other trades, not all washing contractors are the same. Be sure to hire a properly trained and experienced professional for quality results. Ask for proof of insurance for the company and its employees. Some companies choose to hire out subcontractors to perform their services, and often those subcontractors may be under-insured and/or unskilled and untrained. And many well- intentioned individuals purchase equipment and start-up a power washing business without proper training, researching and learning the various appropriate methods of cleaning. Many of these individuals will offer low, low prices in order to try and “break into” the business only to find themselves out of business due to customer satisfaction issues and no business profits. Unfortunately, this leaves their customers without service or worse, with a damaged home exterior. Another important and often-overlooked part of the home exterior is the roof. Roof cleaning, when appropriately performed as part of an overall home exterior maintenance solution, can save homeowners thousands of dollars by prolonging the life of the shingles. Black streaks and other stains that are often found on roofs are often caused by a form of algae that eats away at shingle surfaces. Removing these algae along with dirt and unseen mildew will not only clean and brighten the roof, but also help to maximize the lifetime of the roofing surface. Again, homeowners should be sure to hire only knowledgeable and qualified professionals for the cleaning of their roofs. A professional will inspect
the roof’s condition, provide an educated recommendation with the appropriate cleaning method, and follow up with the proper application. Why use a professional? Many homeowners wonder if they would
save money performing the job themselves using a borrowed, rented, or purchased pressure washer from the home appliance store. When they can be kept operating without failure, out of the box pressure washers can help in minimizing dust and surface dirt. However, what often is intended to be a “small, easy” job turns into a daylong or weekend-long project, requiring additional supplies such as ladders, hoses, fittings, brushes, etc. Long after the unintentionally costly and backbreaking work is over, the results simply will not match those obtained through a true power-wash professional. All too often, the homeowner is left with a less-than-desirable finished appearance and more difficult problems to contend with on the siding.
A professional not only uses steam and hot water, but also
knows how, when, and which cleaning products to use for which application. A professional’s thorough understanding of stain causes
and solutions, environmental conditions, pressure variations, and safe and effective cleaning procedures is required in order to achieve the very best and longest lasting results. Granite State Pressure Washing has been serving the southern New Hampshire area since 1995. We provide free estimates, as well as affordable, friendly, knowledgeable, and experienced workmanship. Our technicians are full-trained company employees. We do not hire under-insured subcontractors to perform substandard work on our customers’ homes. We operate professionally designed, custom-built equipment with high-quality, commercial, biodegradable detergents. We are a small, family owned-operated business. We are locally
known with an honest and professional reputation. After observing the results obtained through our professional services, our satisfied customers (many who’ve had their homes “professionally pressure washed” in the past) tell us “they just never realized how clean it would look.” The difference is unmistakable. We can be reached at 465-9473 and will be happy to assist you with your home exterior and roof cleaning needs.

ARNNE holds a Pet Adoption Day monthly at the First Congregational Church in Pelham. Here
you can learn how to adopt a dog and get to meet some of our current pets for adoption. The dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccines, microchipped, temperaments tested, and are eager to be someone’s new best friend. All our pets for adoption can also be seen on our Website at
www.arnne.org. We are always in need of volunteers and foster homes. Stop by our Pet Adoption Day and meet our group and get information on ways you can help. We are a non-profit organization and rely solely on donations and fundraisers to save the lives of
dogs who otherwise would be euthanized. Beaver Valley Farm is one of our largest supporters. You can visit them at their store on 17 Main Street, Pelham. They sell pet foods: dog, equine and bird, and lawn and garden supplies. This spring they will carry a huge variety of plants and hanging baskets, trees and shrubs. You can visit them on the website at
