submitted by Pam Durkin The atmosphere at the Pelham Memorial School (PMS) was quite tense last week as students competed to the bitter end in front of their peers to determine who was going to represent the school at the 2012 New Hampshire State Spelling Bee. We are happy to announce that eighth grader Anna Ly, who is the daughter of Mimi and Stefan Ly, overwhelmed us all with her spelling savvy. She will be present to wow the audience with her spelling knowledge at the State Wide Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 3, at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord. The winner of this daylong event will go on to represent the state of New Hampshire at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, DC. Runner-ups for PMS were sixth graders Adriana Ray and Ethan Boisvert,


seventh graders Nick Kathios and Joe Katin, and eighth grader Allison Hoey. Congratulations to all and good luck to Anna!

Guy R. DiZazzo Guy R. DiZazzo, 66, of Pelham, died


Wednesday in Methuen, MA. He was born in Lawrence, MA, grew up,


and was educated in California. He was a resident of Pelham for the past 30 years. Guy was an Electrician and was a long- time employee of the Lawrence Hydro Electric Plant. He spent the last few years enjoying retirement, Guy loved working around his house and


was known as “Mr. Fix It,” and would help everyone. Most of all Guy devoted his life to


his family and spending time with them was most important. He is survived by his wife, Donna (Todd) DiZazzo of Pelham; his


children, Jennifer and her husband Fred Coleman of Methuen, MA, Deborah and her husband Mark Padykula of Londonderry, Matthew and his wife Lynn DiZazzo of Hudson, and Tracy Utterbach of Mission Viejo, CA; his brothers, Raymond and Dean DiZazzo of California; grandchildren, Frederick, Benjamin, Kiele, Lexi, and Kira; uncle, William Simone of Methuen; aunts, Rita DeLuca of Londonderry, and Dorothy Barker of North Andover, MA; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Funeral Mass was celebrated on March 13 at St. Patrick’s


Church, Pelham, followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory


of Guy’s mother, Emily DiZazzo, to the ALS Foundation, 1275 K Street, NW, Suite 1050, Washington, DC 20005. The Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home in Salem had care of the
