Strauss Prologue to Ariadne auf Naxos

Two groups of performers arrive to entertain guests at the home of ‘the richest man in Vienna’. A commedia dell’arte troupe led by Zerbinetta, and an opera company headed by an idealistic composer, are told that because of time restrictions their performances must take place not consecutively, but simultaneously.

Royal Academy Opera presents the Prologue to Richard Strauss’s masterpiece Ariadne auf Naxos, semi-staged for this Duke’s Hall concert, sung and spoken in the original German.
