Schiller Park continues to deal with the tough current economic situation well. Our residents host thou- sands more on a daily basis working, shopping, and playing. Schiller Park’s wide array of businesses in- cludes retail, corporate offices, manufacturing, and hotels. Our strategic location near O’Hare Airport,
railroad lines, and the crossroads of I-294, I-90, Mannheim Road, and Irving Park Road continues to make the Village a center of commerce for the region.
The Village continues to maintain a balanced budget with solid reserve
funds. We also continue to invest in our business community by complet- ing projects such as the resurfacing of the O’Hare industrial area streets and continued development in our West Gateway development area. In addition we added a new façade to our Village Hall and improved handicapped access with a ramp and elevator. Importantly we further enhanced our communication capabilities with new electronic signs at the Village Hall and Community Center. We also added new sidewalks in the Metra Station area and on Seymour Avenue and invested in improve- ments to our water and sewer systems.
Even in this still tough economy, our businesses and residents con-
tinue to invest in town. The Schiller Park Commons at Irving Park Road and Old River Road is undergoing a major renovation with the addition of a new Chase Bank and Aldi’s stores. Old industrial properties continue to be renovated and reused for new purposes and a heretofore vacant shipping facility just off 25th Avenue has found a thriving tenant in Hell- man Worldwide Logistics. Schiller Park maintains strong property values and safe neighborhoods. We are proud of the Village and will continue to work hard to make it the best possible place to live and work.
